Years 3 & 4

At Years 3 and 4, the emphasis is on extending literacy and numeracy skills.  Programs are structured with a two hour literacy block and a one hour numeracy block.In reading students begin to respond to information, ideas and beliefs beyond their experience. Speaking and listening are extended through informal and formal situations. Students are provided with opportunities to extend their writing skills in a variety of genres.

 In Mathematics, students are introduced to more formal concepts. An emphasis is placed on linking mathematics to real-life situations and developing problem-solving skills.

Other features of our program include:

Inquiry units – students further develop skills and knowledge in science, the humanities, thinking processes, design, creativity and technology, personal learning and civics and citizenship as outlined in the AusVELS

Physical Education

Sport program – where students learn the rules and skills for team games

Integrated use of a wide range of ICT including computers, iPads and flip cameras

Intensive swimming program

Weekly Science lessons to develop scientific literacy and inquiry

The Arts including Visual Arts, Music, Drama and Dance

Mad on Music – opportunity to learn guitar or keyboard
