The Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning
VCAL is the hands-on option for students who wish to enter the workforce, trades, traineeships or apprenticeships upon completing their secondary schooling.
At Carwatha College P-12 we offer:
- Intermediate VCAL – Year 11;
- Senior VCAL – Year 12.
All of the programs include the compulsory strands of:
- Work Related Skills (including Structured Workplace Learning Program);
- Industry Specific Skills (VET/Tafe Studies);
- Personal Development.
Intermediate and Senior VCAL students are required to complete a VET training qualification and will undertake structured workplace learning one day per week.

V3 Course Selection Expo and Information Evening 2018
All Year 9 and 10 parents are invited to attend our V3 Course Selection and Information Evening on Wednesday 25th July. The evening will commence at 6:30pm with a presentation to current Year 9 parents in the V3 Centre and current Year 10 parents in the Theatre.
At the conclusion of the information session parents and students will be invited to attend the Course Expo in the college Gymnasium. At the Expo parents will be able to discuss VCE/VCAL subjects with the relevant staff whilst collecting brochures and information.
The information sessions will commence at 6.30pm with the Expo following. We expect all families to attend this important evening. It is compulsory for students to attend with at least one parent.
On the evening parents will also be provided with an appointment time to attend our Subject/Course Selection Interviews. Parents are required to attend the interviews with their son/daughter students on:
- Thursday 2rd August – for current Year 9 students
- Tuesday 31st July – for current Year 10 students
Parents will be given an individual appointment time with a course counsellor to select students subjects for 2019.
